Sometimes parties cannot afford or do not want to retain an attorney for their entire divorce or family law proceeding. A person can retain an attorney for any particular part of their case, to perform just one or two tasks, to just draft a pleading or a motion, or to attend a hearing or mediation. Sometimes the other spouse or parent has an attorney, who drafted an agreement, and the non-represented party wants an attorney to review such an agreement to advice him or her if it is an acceptable agreement. This is a perfect example of the new trend of “unbundled” legal services.
